SFSFC announced today that the dates of the 2009 World Fantasy Convention have changed to October 29-November 1, 2009, rather than the following weekend as originally announced. Details of the announcement are in the press release and on the newly redesigned 2009 World Fantasy Convention website.
SMOFCon Scholarship Applications Closed
The deadline for applying for the 2008 SFSFC SMOFCon Scholarships has now passed and no further applications will be accepted. The Scholarship Committee is evaluating applications and will contact all applicants before announcing the results.
SMOFCon Scholarship Application Deadline Extended
SFSFC has extended the deadline for applying for a $500 scholarship to attend the 2008 SMOFCon convention-runners convention in Columbus, Ohio. See our press release for more details. The application form is on our SMOFCon Scholarships page. We will also have paper application forms at the San Jose in 2011 Westercon Bid table at SiliCon October 3-5 at the Doubletree Hotel San Jose.

No ConStruction in 2008
At their July 19, 2008 meeting, the SFSFC Board of Directors decided to not hold ConStruction, SFSFC’s series of convention-running conferences, in 2008. We now plan to hold one in 2009 and 2011, and are soliciting proposals from other groups to hold one in 2010 with our assistance.

July 19 Meeting Details
The next regular meeting of the SFSFC Board of directors will take place at the home of director Glenn Glazer, 1074 El Solyo Heights Drive, Felton, California, on Saturday, July 19, starting at 1 PM. Because this is a residence on a private road, we ask that anyone planning to attend contact the Secretary to get directions and make arrangements to attend.
SFSFC Launches Westercon Bid for San Jose
SFSFC has announced a bid to host the 2011 Westercon. See the Westercon San Jose in 2011 bid web pages for more information. The bid kicks off at Westercon 61 in Las Vegas, July 3-6, and continues with an appearance at Denvention Three in Denver, August 6-10.

Remaining 2008 Meeting Dates Announced
Meeting Dates for the remaining two 2008 SFSFC regular board meetings have been announced. The July meeting will be July 19 at a location to be announced. The November meeting is tentatively scheduled for November 15 in Fremont; however, this date and location may change.
